Jakov Zaidman

Jakov Zaidman is a Principal Information Technology Consultant with over 30 years of relevant technology and business experience, 20 years of experience as an independent consultant, an owner of InterLAN Consulting, an (ISC)2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
In addition to consulting, Jakov also serves on the Board of Directors for the Baycrest Centre and Hospital for Geriatric Care and on its Commercialization, IT, and Clinical Strategy, Quality & Safety Committees.
Jakov’s background and experience cover areas such as Information Privacy, IT Architecture, Network Security and Network Infrastructure. Jakov specializes in audits, evaluation of business requirements, security solution and network infrastructure design and implementation against compliance legislation and industry best practices.
In 1991, Jakov founded InterLAN Consulting Inc. Over the years, Jakov designed, built and supported network, security hosting and application delivery optimization solutions for enterprises in both public and private sectors and in a wide range of verticals, including provincial governments, healthcare, finance, high tech, education, retail, real estate, and others, ranging from companies with a few hundred employees to governments and multinationals with tens of thousands employees. Jakov started his professional career deploying and managing the communications between distributed air traffic control systems; moved on as a Data Communications Manager at one of Intel’s largest R&D centers; managed the Canadian corporate network for Digital Equipment; consulted and implemented enterprise networks for Digital’s customers; deployed multiple generations of networks (from X.25 and DECnet to TCP/IP) for the Ontario provincial government and eventually managed the migration of these networks to an outsourcer; worked on a Network Access Control policy and solution for Ontario government; deployed a large pandemic preparedness solution for a major Canadian bank; was the lead IT architect for the merger of three regional telemedicine networks into a single provincial network (OTN); deployed multi-tenant hosting environments for high traffic websites; implemented PCI compliance solutions for Sears Canada and other retailers.
